This compound movement primarily targets your quadriceps, but also work your glutes, hamstrings, calves, lower back, and hip abductors in some cases.

As mentioned on our Compound Exercises page, compound exercises such as these burn more calories and trigger the release of more muscle building testosterone than isolation leg exercises like Leg Extensions. Therefore, your Muscle Building Workouts and Fat Loss Workouts should be built around compound exercises.

In addition to being a complete lower body exercise, there are many variations of this weight training exercise, which we’ve shown below. Variety is important in all Weight Training Programs and Muscle Building Workouts and Fat Loss Workouts, should not remain static over time. Make sure to alternate the Quadriceps Exercises listed below in your workout routines to be most effective.
